Let Patients Help! is the title of the latest book from former Alliance Annual Seminar speaker Dave deBronkart (e-patient Dave). This patient engagement handbook outlines how everyone can work together to create better health care.
For those of you not familiar with e-patient Dave here is a short bio of why he is such an avid health care activist.
In 2007, Dave was diagnosed with a late-stage kidney cancer and was given just 24 weeks to live. As an online community leader, he sought online resources and found out about a rare treatment that might save his life. He sought out and responded well to this treatment and today he is well. Throughout this process he became very active in blogging and telling his story of being an engaged health care consumer.
Today he is a successful speaker and author of three books.
The handbook was designed in part by e-patient Dave and his doctor, Danny Sands, M.D. who broke the book down into clear and concise lists:
- Part 1: Ten Fundamental Truths
- Part 2: Ten Ways to Let Patients Help
- Part 3: Tip Sheets
Readers from all over the nation have praised this handbook:
“If you’re interested in getting up to speed fast on patient engagement, Let Patients Help! is your passport.”
“Very thought-provoking and helpful.”
“Will unquestionably help many individuals become more active and fully engaged in their health care.”
The book is sold online for only $8, which was impacted by e-patient Dave’s desire to get this out to anyone that is interested. E-patient Dave was kind enough to share a chapter with us that you can download for free. Read a sneak peek of the handbook.
