NEW! Leapfrog Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Survey – Now Accepting Responses

The Alliance encourages all ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) to participate in the inaugural Leapfrog ASC Survey on patient safety and quality. Employers and other purchasers of health care across the country asked Leapfrog to launch this annual survey, alongside the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, so we can compare the safety and quality of hospital outpatient departments and ASCs on a nationally standardized set of measures.

The majority of surgical procedures are now performed either in hospital outpatient departments or ASCs, a trend welcomed by purchasers and patients. But little information is publicly available about the safety and quality of this care, which should be a critical consideration for patients. By participating in the Leapfrog ASC Survey, your ASC can help change that and, at the same time, highlight your own contribution to providing quality health care in your community.

All ASCs in the U.S. have the opportunity to participate in this first annual Leapfrog ASC Survey. In 2019, data collected by Leapfrog from ASCs, and similar information collected from hospital outpatient departments, will be aggregated in a national report and made available through benchmarking reports to individual facilities that complete the Surveys. Beginning with the 2020 Survey, ASC and hospital outpatient department results will be publicly reported by the facility. Purchasers and consumers use publicly reported Leapfrog data for contracting, benefits design and decision-making.

A letter containing security codes and information about completing the survey were mailed to the CEO of each ASC at the beginning of April. Please visit http://www.leapfroggroup.org/asc to learn more and to begin. The deadline for completion is June 30, 2019, but late submissions or updates are permitted through November 30, 2019.

Annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey – Now Accepting Responses

The 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey is now open for hospitals to complete. The Leapfrog Hospital Survey is the only nationally standardized and endorsed measure set that captures hospital performance in patient safety, quality and resource utilization.

This year we are especially pleased to announce a new section on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey focused on outpatient surgery. Outpatient surgery is an area of growing interest for our members, who have been frustrated by the lack of quality information available. The Survey’s new section on the quality and safety of outpatient procedures is an exciting opportunity for Wisconsin. This information collected through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey will parallel information collected through the inaugural annual Leapfrog Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Survey.

A letter containing security codes and information about completing the survey were mailed to the CEO of each hospital on April 10, 2019. The survey must be completed and submitted prior to June 30 in order for results to be included in the first release of Leapfrog’s 2019 survey results. The results will be released in late July and will fully replace the 2018 survey results at: http://www.leapfroggroup.org/compare-hospitals.

Participation in the survey can benefit a hospital in the following ways:

  • Benchmark your performance nationally, regionally, and locally on important quality and safety issues
  • Create a performance improvement plan by charting your year-over-year progress on the Survey
  • Demonstrate your commitment to quality and safety improvement to your Board of Directors
  • Show your commitment to transparency, one of health care consumers’ most valued considerations in choosing a hospital

Purchasers use the results from the Leapfrog survey to raise consumer awareness about patient safety and to recognize and reward those hospitals that participate and make progress toward the “leaps” or process improvements.

Submit All Medical Claims to The Alliance First

We want to make sure all claims are repriced and submitted in a timely manner. That is why it is very important for you as a provider to send claims directly to The Alliance when submitting claims for an employee or dependent from one of our member companies.

We understand that it can be confusing when ID cards list multiple logos and claims filing addresses, which is why we want to reiterate that if our logo is displayed that all claims should be submitted to us first.
