The Opportunity

The Account Executive is responsible for maintaining and growing an assigned book of business by understanding the changing needs of the current clients (employers) and connecting them with Alliance services of value to them. The role also builds productive relationships with brokers and TPAs and is the subject matter expert on marketplace alternatives in the assigned customer segment. The Account Executive helps The Alliance fulfill its mission by bringing meaningful voice of the customer (VOC) feedback into the organization in ways that can be used by other departments, like Marketing, Product Development, and Sales Operations. Growing revenue through additional products or additional covered employees, when it’s in the best interest of the employer, is also a key part of this critical role.  

The Responsibilities

The Account Executive is responsible for these critical tasks: 

  • In collaboration with Manager of Account Services, create, execute, and track an account management plan for an assigned book of business that will meet or exceed the retention target. 
  • Help develop and execute broker and TPA strategies to meet or exceed overall membership targets. 
  • Interpret and effectively communicate Alliance data and reports to clients and brokers.  Work with clients directly to understand their needs and identify relevant data insights, so they can make decisions and implement improvements based on the information.  
  • Gather insights and bring the Voice of the Customer back to The Alliance through established processes and informal sharing of learnings.  
  • Represent The Alliance and the brand in the marketplace at networking and professional events, trade shows, and presentations.  
  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues for accounts with the assistance of Sales Operations.  
  • Serve in a consultative capacity to help accounts understand data and insights on how best to optimize their health benefits offerings.  
  • Work collaboratively with other departments such as Marketing, Provider Contracting, Network Development, Data Analysis, Claims, Customer Service, Sales Operations, Accounting and more to fulfill account needs and resolve account problems.  
  • Proactively keep current on industry and competitive trends and developments and share knowledge with internal stakeholders. 

The Requirements

The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills and is highly skilled in active listening and consultative selling. In addition they will be: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field and a minimum of three years experience in an account management role in health care, benefits, or insurance.  Health benefit consultation and working knowledge of benefit plan design and self-funding a plus.   
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including active listening, customer service, problem solving, and consultative selling.  
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret and explain charts and graphs with detailed health information.  This includes high-level numbers, percentages, and deeper analysis.  
  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management / CRM programs with the capability to learn other programs.   
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and diverse environment where creativity and resourcefulness is valued. 
  • Up to 30% statewide day travel with occasional overnight stays is required. 
  • The ability to work in the United States without sponsorship required.
