In any large-scale, long-range project, it’s important to set intermediate milestones to help mark QualityPath progress and maintain motivation. In early 2014, we celebrated one of those milestones with this project.
After spending months developing the criteria by which we will designate high quality physician + hospital pairs for orthopedic and cardiac procedures, the draft criteria is now out for review and comment! On Jan.7, we invited physicians, hospitals, specialty societies and quality measurement experts across our three-state service area to review and comment on the program. We began to get responses within an hour of hitting the send button. “Impressive” and “breaking new ground” is some of what we’ve heard thus far.
Many clinicians and hospitals have indicated that they intend to offer comments within the three-week review and comment period, while others have indicated that they intend to apply to become QualityPath providers.
I’m grateful to all those who have provided input on the development of this program thus far – physicians, hospitals and our members. We’ve got a lot of work to do before QualityPath goes live Jan. 1, 2015, but it’s great to see the progress we’ve made thus far.
