MADISON, WI. (Jan. 21, 2025) – Vicki Bernards, Chief Financial and People Officer at WPS and Mike Beighley, Superintendent of the Whitehall School District, were appointed to fill two vacant seats on The Alliance’s Board of Directors.
Bernards oversees departments at WPS including accounting, financial planning, human resources, and the company’s self-insured employee health insurance program. Beighley has been the superintendent for the Whitehall School District for over 20 years and is responsible for the district’s performance, including student outcomes and overall operation.

As a cooperative, The Alliance Board of Directors is elected by and made up of its employer-members, who represent a diverse range of industries and geographic areas. This ensures effective representation for all employer-members and strengthens The Alliance’s ability to meet the needs of its membership.
The two new Board members were appointed by the Board of Directors to fill vacant seats during its meeting on Dec. 11, 2024. The Board has the authority to fill vacant seats until the cooperative’s next Annual Meeting. To continue serving past the Annual Meeting, the appointees will need to be elected.
