About the Project

The Alliance is partnering with Dr. Jonah Berger, a professor at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a world-renowned expert on consumer behavior, word of mouth, and social influence.

Together, we’re embarking on a multi-year journey to identify and test behavioral strategies that improve healthcare decision-making and utilization.

Our Goal:

Make Healthcare  More Affordable

Identify opportunities for behavior change that improve healthcare decision-making and utilization, driving down costs for employers and employees.

Who should apply?

Employers

Help us identify strategies that improve employee engagement, benefit navigation, and health outcomes while controlling costs.

Providers

Collaborate to identify ways care delivery, education, and support can help drive better outcomes and reduce unnecessary costs.

TPAs

Share your perspectives on what influences better decisions and how to communicate value in today’s complex healthcare landscape.

Brokers

Help us identify strategies for your clients that strengthen employee engagement, simplify benefit navigation, improve health outcomes, and manage costs more effectively.

When is this happening?

The work has already begun!

Partnerships are forming and strategies are taking shape — The pilot begins June 2026, and there’s still time to join us.

Pilot

June 2026 – April 2027

The intent is to share round one learnings at The Alliance 2027 Spring Symposium.

Round 2+

April 2027 and beyond

We don’t want this to be a one-and-done program. We hope to continue learning over time with different organizations involved along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to participate?

Nothing! The Alliance, as a cooperative, has decided to invest money in this project to provide greater learning to our entire membership, which is why we ask that anyone who participates be willing to share what they learn back next year.

What do you hope to get out of this project?

Information to share with our employer-members and partners to improve how healthcare decisions are made to make healthcare more affordable for everyone.

What if I'm not selected?

The Alliance has already received applications from number of interested organizations. We’ll be using criteria to help choose round one, but if you’re interested and not selected, we hope to include you in a subsequent round and still share learnings from round one with you as we’re able to.

How are you determining who will be included?

We want to include a mix of participants from across the healthcare value chain. Participants should:

  • A mix of participants from all parts of the value chain
  • Willingness and ability to implement changes
  • Willingness and ability to share data
  • Leadership buy-in

What is the final date to submit an application?

May 22, 2026 for round 1. Subsequent rounds will be announced at a later date.

What’s our plan for keeping membership apprised throughout this process?

We will include regular updates in our newsletters, publish a final report, and present the findings at The Alliance 2027 Spring Symposium.
