President and CEO, The Alliance
Curt Kubiak joined The Alliance in 2024 as President and CEO. He works with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team to establish the strategic direction of the cooperative.
Prior to working at The Alliance, Curt founded NOVO Health in 2016. His previous experience includes serving as CEO at The Orthopedic & Sports Institute of the Fox Valley (OSI) and Director of Business Administration at Plexus.
Curt earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and international business from Marquette University. He received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oshkosh.
CEO, National CooperativeRx
As CEO, Josh’s focus is to represent the organization’s members. National CooperativeRx represents over 300 members made up of employers, unions, and coalitions — which collectively are responsible for the health and well-being of 480,000 participants. Josh strives to continue the Cooperative’s trend of keeping costs low and value high.
Josh came to National CooperativeRx after working with the Wisconsin Counties Association for a decade. As the Director of Programs and Services, he supported member services while developing revenue sources. In this role, Josh served as the COO of WCA Group Health Trust, a self-funded employee health benefits trust that grew from 8,000 to 50,000 participants during his tenure.
Josh received his undergraduate degree in public administration and finance from The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a master’s degree in public affairs from The University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Owner, Duffy Communication Strategies
Melissa Duffy, owner of Duffy Communication Strategies, leverages her extensive experience to help healthcare purchasing cooperatives improve the cost and quality of healthcare across the country.
Formerly a lead advisor to the WI State Senate on health policy, Melissa helped pass laws and smooth the regulatory path for common sense and pro-consumer changes to the healthcare system. After leaving the Senate, she worked in the private sector developing and promoting healthcare purchasing cooperatives as a model for consumer support and empowerment.
Melissa specializes in government relations, public relations, media, health care advocacy and cooperatives. She is a graduate of University of WI with a BA in English and political science.
Associate Vice President of Government Relations & Senior Political Advisor, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, WMC
Rachel Ver Velde is Senior Director of Workforce, Education and Employment Policy at Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC). Prior to WMC, she served as Chief of Staff for Congressman Glenn Grothman (Wisconsin’s 6th District), managing his office operations in both Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin. Additionally, she served as Grothman’s Chief of Staff while he was the Assistant Majority Leader in the Wisconsin State Senate. Prior to that, Rachel worked for Congressman Paul Ryan in his Janesville office.
Rachel graduated with Honors from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics.
