Senior Director of Strategic Marketing and Employer Engagement, The Alliance

Jennifer Austin is the Senior Director of Strategic Marketing and Employer Engagement at The Alliance. She leads the marketing and account management teams in all aspects of marketing and customer engagement, including brand strategy, paid advertising, public relations, social media, website development and optimization, and events.

Prior to joining The Alliance, Jennifer worked at a number of agencies in Chicago and Madison, including Healthgrades, focusing on marketing and strategy development for hospitals and health systems, including Advocate Healthcare (now Advocate Aurora Health), Augusta University Health, and HCA Healthcare.

Christopher Whaley, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Brown University

Chris Whaley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. He received his PhD in Health Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Chris’ research focuses on health care price transparency and market structure. He is the lead researcher on the RAND Study. His research has been published in leading clinical, health policy, and economics journals and has been covered in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and CNN.

Chris has presented results to state and federal policy makers, including the US Congress, California State Assembly, Texas House Select Committee on Health Care Reform, Executive Office of the President, Congressional Budget Office, and the Federal Trade
