MADISON, WI. (April 23, 2025) – Reedsburg Area Medical Center (RAMC) was presented with a 2025 Healthcare Transformation Award for its commitment to providing high-value care locally.
The Healthcare Transformation Award recognizes employers, providers or other organizations that drive meaningful change in the healthcare marketplace, including improving quality, affordability and accessibility. The award is given by The Alliance Board of Directors. The Alliance is a not-for-profit cooperative that works to improve healthcare for employers and their employees.
“There’s a reason The Alliance often recommends Reedsburg Area Medical Center to the employers that we work with. It’s because the organization consistently provides high-value healthcare,” said Deb Kunferman, Vice President of Provider Contracting & Relations at The Alliance. “RAMC really aligns with our mission to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. But, what’s furthermore impressive, is the organization’s deep commitment to the well-being of its community.”
After realizing that patients were going outside of the community to seek care from lower-cost providers, RAMC significantly lowered costs on specific services to help patients access care locally. The health system strategically chose common, shoppable services and procedures that matter to patients and employers.
“We’re very proud to receive this award. It puts an exclamation point behind all the work that we’ve done over the years to make sure that our patients have access to high-quality care in Reedsburg, Wisconsin,” said Robert Van Meeteren, President and CEO at RAMC. “When people stay and get those services of a very high quality, not only does that healthcare dollar stay in our community, but all the other dollars that could have left are staying in the community.”
RAMC continues to expand to meet the needs of the Reedsburg community. The health system actively participates in the annual Community Health Needs Assessment to better understand the community’s most pressing health challenges and how they can effectively address them. In response to the 2022 survey, RAMC made improvements to its behavioral health, women’s health, and primary care facilities to better meet patients’ needs.
“One of the main things that RAMC has done is have a good idea of who we are and who we aren’t. We’ve decided that our niche is to provide good care to our community. We want to prove that we are deserving of that care staying here,” said Teresa Field, Chief Operating Officer at RAMC. “It’s exciting to get this recognition because it tells us we’re on the right track.”
RAMC is also dedicated to supporting the health and wellness of the Reedsburg community. The hospital offers classes and programs to help patients get and stay healthy, including fitness classes, wellness groups, childbirth education, tobacco cessation, and farmers markets.
RAMC has been a part of the Reedsburg community since 1902. The center serves over 25,000 people in Reedsburg and surrounding areas, offering all general services including family medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, inpatient/surgical, intensive care, emergency and walk-in care. As an employer, RAMC provides jobs for more than 600 people.
The award was given to RAMC at The Alliance Spring Symposium in Madison on April 23, where numerous employers, healthcare professionals and industry leaders gathered to work together to transform healthcare and health benefits.
